I’m still deciding what I think about this. My initial reaction – before I heard her speech (which was more of a meandering ramble, really) – was “what the heck is she doing?” Not sure that question was answered even after sifting through her speech to find her stated reasons.
Her ”higher calling” comment does seem to indicate she is not stepping away from politics, just from the governorship of Alaska.
JenniferSeriously, would we even be talking about this if it WASN’T Sarah Palin? Give me a break. At least we are talking about something that is teetering on the side of “conscience” or is masquerading as such. In a society that has the morality of a fly, it is sad that more time is spent on why she is stepping down (which from the onset appears to have some validity behind it – except for those that don’t like her anyway) while the stories about male politicians that are sleeping around and using taxpayer dollars to do it are being dismissed as “oh, men will be men” or something ridiculous like that. In today’s world, this country needs to refocus on what is really important…jobs, healthcare (no national health care thank you very much!), and the crazy psychopathic “leaders” of N. Korea and Iran. HELLLLLOOOOOOOOOO!
No matter what Palin will do, the idiots, sleaze and members of the media (one in the same?) will critize her. If she runs fo president, she will be critized for not paying enough attention to Alaska.(Gee, why didn’t they do that to dumber and dumber (Obama and McCain)) Since she resigned, she is being accused of hiding something or is a quitter.
The morons on the left are scared of her, along with the elitists of the GOP.
So, now she can begin campaigning on her terms and make a few bucks on the side as she gives speeches at a hundred thousand a pop and maybe write a book.
She is going to be successful at whatever she does and hopefully, she will be elected president in 2012.

I have 3 theories. I don’t like slate, so you can have them.
#1 One or more of her kids said they want their mother back. How could she say no to that?
#2 She’s though of an idea that is completely new. Something no-one has ever thought of before. Unconventional people do that sometimes don-cha-know.
#3 She’d rather be fishing.
