Sorry to disappoint. While there was some serious comedies going on, it was hardly a curcus. In Washington D&C whenever the MSM turns its jaded eye on Senate or House Republicans that loud noise you hear is said members diving under their desks.

Clark County Republican Party Chairman Zadrowski painfully adhered to Robert's Rules. Motions were made, there were the inevitable debates pro and con, motions were carried and decided upon by voice vote, it was democracy in action. In the end we stood tall as Republicans and to hell with the simpering medis! Isn't it about time!! For me it was a proud moment.

The party must stand for a higher principle than winning the next election. With the recession and its associated increase in unemployment and reductions in wages and profits, the idea of increasing the burden on the state's workers and businesses is unforgivable. The tax increases and heightened regulatory burdens enacted by this legislature are virtually certain to deepen and prolong the recession in Nevada. Our only saving grace may be that these conditions are even worse in California.

This is a move that could be a long-term boon for the Republican Party. One of the party's weak points is that it has become void of a clear set of guiding principles. Because it has not been unified under a consistent ideology (such as limited government, individual rights, enforcement of contracts and the rule of law) it has become a hodgepodge of confused philosophies. In many corners it is known as "the Party of No" precisely because Republicans have, for a long time, not known what it is that they are FOR.

Refocusing the party based on a principled philosophy for the role of government is essential if the Republican Party wants be successful in the future.
